About Twin Cities Women's Choir
-
Her Voice Productions is an inclusive community that sings, performs, and affirms the voices of girls and women.
Our vision is to strengthen and inspire individuals and communities through song. Our mission is evident in all facets of our rehearsal process and performances and is fully supported by the commitment of our singers and our audience. We sing music that is supportive and encouraging to women, music that challenges us artistically, inspires us soulfully, and empowers us to use our voices for good in the world.

The Twin Cities Women’s Choir (TCWC) began in August 1997 with a volunteer director, accompanist, 14 singers, and $200 to purchase music. A Board of Directors was formed in 1998 to manage choir business and obtain 501(c)(3) status. Singer and audience member counts climbed as word spread about the choir’s diverse repertoire, connection with the audience due largely to memorization of music, and strong community of caring women whose enjoyment of singing together could be seen on our faces and heard in our voices.
Her Voice Productions has grown to over 200 members per year and continues to achieve new levels of musical excellence.
Our audiences have more than tripled during our 29 year history. We’ve commissioned over 35 compositions and arrangements for women’s voices and we sponsor a contest for emerging female composers. We maintain an active concert schedule for each program, perform at many community events, and have successfully collaborated with 17 different performing groups.
We connect with a unique audience who values the voices of women as leaders, performers, thinkers, artists, and heroes. Our season runs from September through May and includes several major concerts, events and a variety of community outreach activities.
Some outreach performances include:
Orchestra Hall: Ann Bancroft Foundation Awards
Guthrie Theater: singing prior to A Christmas Carol
The Fitzgerald Theater: Ann Reed’s Heroes Event
Minneapolis Convention Center: Annual Women Venture Conference
National anthem performances for Gopher’s Women’s Basketball, Minnesota Lynx, Minnesota Twins, Minnesota United FC
We receive operating funds through grants, but we rely primarily on contributions from the choir and our audiences for support. While we are committed to being self-supporting, no one is turned away. We fully honor and recognize all contributions, including money and time.

The Twin Cities Women’s Choir is part of Her Voice Productions, a nonprofit organization that uplifts and affirms women’s voices through song. Founded over 25 years ago, we are one of the largest women’s choirs in the country - 150 singers strong, ages 19–89.
We are multigenerational, LGBTQ+ strong, and welcoming of all who wish to sing. Together we create powerful, professional-level performances that are anything but “stuffy choir concerts.” Our concerts feature the words and music of women composers, local Minnesota artists, and a blend of traditional and contemporary pieces. Imagine 150 women singing these soaring harmonies and powerful lyrics from memory, moving as one - the result is electric.
Our members live all over the Twin Cities and we celebrate a diversity of ages, ethnicities, incomes, backgrounds, sexual orientations, religious beliefs, and abilities. Members join together to build community through music. Come get to know us!
